PLF337 MODULE The PLF337 module supports Intel's flash memory in 64 pin Easy BGA package.
Four plug-in BGA sockets are used on each socket module. The photo shows the PLF337
with one plug-in pcb assembly removed and one socket open. If two PLF337s are fitted,
eight pieces can be gang programmed in almost the same time as it takes to program
a single piece.
Programming times for one to eight pieces are very quick. For example, eight 64M bit
parts can typically be programmed and verified in two minutes.
Great care has been taken in the design to reduce running costs.
Firstly, the sockets are rated for up to 500,000 operations.
Secondly, as the sockets are not soldered to the their plug-in pcb assembly, it
is possible to just change the socket. Alternatively, individual socket pcb
assemblies can be changed in seconds.
The ability to remove the socket pcb assembly means it is easy to clean the
socket.
TYPICAL FLASH
Intel 28F640J3D. Other devices in the same family can easily be added as the
socket module has been designed to support devices up to 256M bits.
RELATED MODULES
Parts support for similar BGA devices can be implemented very quickly as it
is relatively easy to design new socket assemblies for different flash families.
